This is not just a cliché, water covers 70 % of our body, just as the Earth surface. It is not only a coincidence. Life started first in the waters. It is water what makes our organism grow healthy. However, we do not always carry out our practice as in pay for what the water has done to us. Many people throw waste and debris to the banks of river ignoring that all this water comes back to our life in an unpleasant manner. All this facts happen many often but fortunately also emerge groups trying to make the difference. The Cuba GSA team is one of this groups who are aimed at promoting an environmental conscious by intellectual activity and practical actions.

In this opportunity they are monitoring the water of Guamá river, this water body which surrounds the main sports fields of Pinar del Río. The GSA team is really taking care about the river health but they realize that their struggle is hard because it seems that people’s neglect and the sanitary system are significant rivals.

Anyway the activity is well worthy and much more now that we are given the award of Water Champions. Despite the monitoring was not so favorable ( ph 8, DO: 0ppm, and turbidity: 40 JTU) From this time on we will work stronger with our captain Fernando and all our sport network in Cuba.
